Who We Are ?

More than a decade ago, a group of philanthropist students at Bolan Medical College Quetta started helping poor and marginalized patients from interior Balochistan in the public and private hospitals of Quetta. Since the literacy rate in Balochistan is low, so the majority of the patients find simple procedures of hospitals difficult. This group of students started facilitating these patients. The group extended their support to patients and started arranging blood donations, funds and medicines. Thus hundreds of patients benefited from this work. In order to organize this work in a more systematic way, this group started thinking of a patient’s welfare organization. It was with this noble cause that in May 2011, Open Door Health Services (ODHS) was established. ODHS not only continued its work at Quetta, but also expanded its services to the remote areas of Balochistan.

To become a leading health care organization in the fields of medical therapeutics, disease prevention, medical education and research. And also to become a model institution providing state of art and modern treatment to patients regardless of their socioeconomic class, race, ethnicity or religion.

To provide treatment to sick and to alleviate sufferings of patients from Balochistan with fully advanced, scientific, professional means and skills regardless of their ability to pay. Also to keep people healthy and protect patients and their families against the financial ruin from medical bills.

ODHS outreach center Zhob

In June 2011, a free clinic of general practice was established in district Zhob. This clinic started providing free services two days a month with the help of volunteer doctors of ODHS. This ODHS run free clinic still provides free consultations and facilitates referrals to the higher centers for advanced care. Since 2014, ODHS started providing facilities of general surgical procedures to patients at highly subsidized rates with the help of a qualified volunteer surgeon using facilities of a private hospital. Recently we have started a free Psychiatry clinic in the same fashion at our facility at Zhob. This way ODHS has provided quality care to thousands of patients with dignity and empathy. With the intention of raising the awareness, ODHS collaborated with Society for Human Awareness and Development (SHAD) and conducted sessions in community to raise the awareness regarding diseases. These sessions were highly appreciated by community leadership and district administrators. Moreover, in recognition of services provided by ODHS, the local community of Zhob provided a piece of land to ODHS to enhance its facilities and services (copy of agreement and details of land are attached).
